very nice of the fascist countries to identify themselves like this tbh

lol at getting some person responding to this repeating fascist propaganda about how the soviet union was evil and this was actually an evil resolution wrongfully decrying innocent people who sided with the Nazis to stop the soviet union

Show thread

I think it's instructive by the way

the fascist propaganda about brave anti communist heroes (who just coincidentally also worked with the Nazis) is normal and acceptable throughout most of Europe

that really is what this map is about

even "respectable" European countries don't want to contradict the lies

Show thread

@SeanAloysiusOBrien ah yes, Australia,,,,,,famously a part of Western Europe (though I'm surprised they didn't vote against)

how tf entire europe is “well…” on this???

@dym @SeanAloysiusOBrien it's essentially russia's attempt to have a resolution to wave around while doing their "stfu we defeated hitler" rounds of international politics, they do it every year and it's rubbish rly

@pony @SeanAloysiusOBrien ah, so ukraine is against it coz they “nationalistic” against putin’s influence. yeah, makes sense. isnt mongolia “nationalistic” against china tho?

@dym @SeanAloysiusOBrien well ukraine has solid reasons to hate it. as the resolution is written, it just states hitler and everyone who fought on his side bad, everyone who fought against hitler good. which is obviously true on some level, but it's got a fucking metric shitton of buts really. and it's ofc russia who plays this in the modern politics.

like, prague was basically the last major place held by the nazis in may 1945, eventually, people there staged an armed uprising, but somehow didn't know there's a remnant ss division nearby. oopsie woopsie, the saving grace was an armed group of so called russian liberation army, basically russians allied with hitler because they hated stalin. but they disarmed the german garrison and neutralized the ss. actual red army reached prague only later without any fight. and they *hate* this story and anyone but them being remembered. this is why they draft things like this.

@pony @dym

I mean Ukraine is also ran by neofascists so that's their other reason lol

@pony @dym

ah I'll see myself out

oh wait this nonsense is in my mentions

go away fash

@pony @dym @SeanAloysiusOBrien all I know is my Slovak grandmother had to flee the Nazis because they were going to kill her (Dark skinned woman, worked with the local Jewish community), I wonder why your grandparents did not have to flee the Nazis...

Stalin saved Eastern Europe from US style reservations under the Nazis at best and a Final Solution at worst. You might not like it, but that's the facts jack.

@doctorflappy @pony @dym @SeanAloysiusOBrien a self described "market economy martyr" doing apologetics for fascism??? say it isn't so...

@SeanAloysiusOBrien oh my god and they're all white countries

incredible

@SeanAloysiusOBrien i hate to break it to you but central and eastern europe aren't part of western europe and neither is asia minor

@SeanAloysiusOBrien beginning to think the UN should just kick the US out

it's not like trump would object

@SeanAloysiusOBrien ah yes. estonia, lithuania, poland, czech republic and romania. the famous west europe

@SeanAloysiusOBrien germany abstained?

that's.... weird, given their strong stance against nazi iconography

#LB genre ?? comment tu peux faire ça et dire t’es une démocratie ??

@SeanAloysiusOBrien ah yeah that makes total sense. weird how every nonwhite country on the planet falls for this plot that the internet rando can see through

@SeanAloysiusOBrien I have no fucking clue what that means except I'm 1000% certain it's libertarian nerd shit

@ItsMorgan @SeanAloysiusOBrien I'm strongly considering changing my bit to market economy martyr if I can figure out a pfp that works lmao

@SeanAloysiusOBrien @RussellsBarbershopQuartet every time i see a shithead in my replies, i go to their profile and look for a media post and see if it says husky lmao

@flowless2 @RussellsBarbershopQuartet

as long as the biggest right wing weirdos in my mentions continue to be plemora weirdos I will continue to shit on plemora

@SeanAloysiusOBrien flanders' (and thus one of belgium's) biggest party is directly descended from a party whose first policy point was pardoning collaborators, and considered this an essential point in their federalist/separatist program.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien now make a list of the countries where opposing the unelected government gets you put into a prison camp

hint: it’s green countries

@SeanAloysiusOBrien imagine being in the UN and voting against this. Literally just leave if you don't wanna agree with the "bad countries" about this basic thing. NATO would be one thing, but Jesus christ.

@a_breakin_glass

yeah it's not all inclusive unfortunately, but still rather informative

@SeanAloysiusOBrien its incredibly disappointing to see ireland on there but then again fine gael are descended from the blueshirts, so its hardly surprising

@Juju

well, being 100% antifascist means you have to stop parading around "heroes" who fought the evil Soviets (and also just happened to collaborate with the nazis)

@SeanAloysiusOBrien @OCRbot I am not sure if you can take it at face value.. uff confusing it with a 2014 thing.. un.org/press/en/2014/gashc4124 see 2018 on the map.. and also see a call for input on 2020, that probably preceeded this one? ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Racism/SRR

The 2014 one the US basically saying in that case Belarus was using similar language in their politics and others are in disagreement because Stalinism isn't treated aswel... I mean, it's not clear it's not we can take the map at face value.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien apparently it's pretty much a yearly thing abc.net.au/news/2017-11-16/us-

Here is an explanation for 2019 usun.usmission.gov/explanation

Wonder what exactly what actions the resolution asks for that infringe on free speech.

I do have my doubts about US long-term adherence to free speech when it comes to unionizing and left wing politics. And outright threats or calls to violence are really not free speech anymore. Infact Nazism itself is exactly that, isn't it.

@jasper

a lot of it is because it's seen as being involved in the geopolitics between Russian and Ukraine, because Ukranian politics heavily upholds anti-soviet figures who also just so happened to collaborate with the Nazis

but it also does matter because the reason that happens is because modern Ukrainian politics is heavily dominated by neo fascists
