The company is now saying "oh we never claimed it could drive under its own power in this demo video lmao"

@SeanAloysiusOBrien Is this that Tesla electric tractor that they've been talking about?

@SeanAloysiusOBrien Oh even better

Take it from a pro driver, the tech and infrastructure are absolutely not there yet.

@paladin

yeah I've read some stuff about the infrastructure it would take to turn trucking all electric and boy that is A Lot

@SeanAloysiusOBrien The 500-mile range is an absolute non-starter as is the double standard weight for the tractor.

As it is these things are useful for netops and shag loads, that's it.

@paladin

yeah, plus what I've read about the charging infrastructure that would be needed seems absurd

places would have to fundamentally rebuild their electric grids to handle the demand

@SeanAloysiusOBrien
Everyone: Electric trucks, self driving cars, shaded hail taxis!
Buses and electric trains: Excuse me? Why are you reinventing us?
@paladin

@SeanAloysiusOBrien "all we were doing was showing off our superb quality wheels and low friction transmission"

@SeanAloysiusOBrien Now that is some modern business. Scam enough investors with fake products that you make millions of dollars, then hire an actually competent firm to build the product.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien tfw I thought you just had a jokey text substitution add-on installed :')

@a_breakin_glass

lol nope, it's pretty funny To Me that the competitor is just riffing off the same name

@SeanAloysiusOBrien powering electric vehicles with the aid of nikola tesla's spinning corpse

@SeanAloysiusOBrien I've invented a truck that requires no fuel as long as you only need to deliver down hills

@SeanAloysiusOBrien imagine if the US could afford actual rail infrastructure instead
