lmao this one sure upset the anticommunists

this reinforces my belief that this is a good meme

hilarious to get a reply like "because your admin is a SJW cuck they have prevented you from seeing this terribly important post!!!" *posts a screenshot of a reply from shitposter.club (we're defederated) that's spouting some anti-communist propaganda*

this same person also dug through months of my posts until they found one where my image caption was like "this is some right wing screed that I'm not going to caption" and we're like "so what?!?!? only sighted people deserve to read right wing screeds??!??" lol talk about bad faith

oh and ofc there was another reply from someone saying "To be honest this is conditioning people to accept living like people in China. Its not a good meme."

you love to see the sinophobia jump out lmao

To be honest this is conditioning people to accept living like people in China. Its not a good meme.

#Gentrification is also capitalistic and fascistic as it is oft its highly #corporatist in nature. We can bet a dodgy multi-national #propertyDeveloper with ready access to desperate migrant labour at their disposal (and yes some would have died), made those #humanFilingCabinets.

We call out blatent sinophobia, but this meme is indoctrination. So the plebs accept an unhealthy lifestyle while the one percent and policy makers enjoy the benefits of open spaces, easy access to regenerative environments and green space, and access to workers from their remote island locations.

Overdevelopment is also a terrible strain on the environment, global SandMafia is a big part of that.

This meme is a false choice, there are plenty of vacant properties out there, if govt really was serious.

Building these flats is a social, and environmental disaster.

ok "person who thinks australia has enough people already" person

Haha, well let's just say its not the easiest place.

We have to be a net exporter of foods also in order to balance our books. Yet up until coronavirus, ppl were leaving the land for cities. Its been a mess thanks to financialisation and speculation and yes overdevelopment and universities setting themselves up as glorified property developers etc.

We don't need bogger cities. Quite the opposite.

Anyway, see you on Fedi.

@dsfgs @SeanAloysiusOBrien hey i'm a bit late to this discussion but have you tried having less white people in australia? that seems like it could help with the overpopulation problem you claim to be having. cheers!

Let's just say, in Australia (and other overdeveloped places), anyone who has more than a particular number of children, we can't have much… time… for, yes.

Don't make this about race, please.

Overpopulation and overconsumption are both issues.

@dsfgs @esvrld @SeanAloysiusOBrien i have 33 milfs overconsuming my ass, they just love eating it

@dsfgs @esvrld @SeanAloysiusOBrien anyway, have you read thomas layon's paper "refutations of the malthusian idea of overpopulation"

Malthus is not wrong, but the can has been able to be kicked down the road with a few tricks, that are coming to a head.

Malthus had a third theory, that ppl embrace limits to expanding, which also shows that he's not actually wrong.

You could say he covered all the bases. :)

Having said that #Malthusianism has been abused in the past. We must be careful not repeat those, but sadly many appear to be trying to.

@esvrld @SeanAloysiusOBrien

Erm… so apparently this person blocked us for exposing the false choice that transnational property developers try to push on us.

@dsfgs @SeanAloysiusOBrien that's just not true. haven't you read Wolfgang Liechminne's famous description of the homeless problem in socialist China?

@dsfgs @SeanAloysiusOBrien let me summarize it for you: this reply is a classic example of someone who needs to LIECHE MINNE DICK AND BALLS

@RussellsBarbershopQuartet @dsfgs@activism.openworlds.info @SeanAloysiusOBrien the fact that we already have this instance blocked from here is getting in the way of this absolutely beautiful dunk

@dsfgs @SeanAloysiusOBrien damn i hate to be conditioned to want to live in apartments as opposed to park benches

See #emptyHomes.

There were 80,000 empty homes in #Australia. Years ago before the #constructionBoom we didn't need.

But let's all close our eyes and enjoy the #falseChoice served to us.

@dsfgs so give the homes away. seize them from the banks and developers. simple as

See other branch of discussion to learn some of the factors involved, and why highrise is a false choice.

@dsfgs @SeanAloysiusOBrien Our expectations on housing are now so low that Plattenbau is considered "gentrification"?
@SeanAloysiusOBrien @dsfgs Hong Kong under the British replaced physically and mentally unhygienic and unsafe slums with high-rise residentials with subsidized rent, raising the living conditions for the population. I am 100% in support of this. Today's HK public housing continues in the same spirit. The private housing market is insane, but the majority of people live in public housing.

Leaving any genocides and political persecution aside, in terms of housing policy in mainland China's growing cities, the same process is happening there and it's great.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien the other answer to your (sad but excellent) toot is 5 stars tbh :')

@SeanAloysiusOBrien To be honest this is conditioning people to think homelessness is bad and that punishing people for being homeless is bad. it is a good meme.

#Gentrification is also capitalistic and fascistic and #corporatist in nature.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien i would have replied to the actual guy but i blocked him 🤷
