@SeanAloysiusOBrien The choice of a typewriter as a header image might be a massive power move.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien the absolute state of representative democracy, direct democracy now, we have the means and if you say but huur duuur it's so insecure then please keep living in your dream world where voting by mail is any more secure

idk Japan can be a little peculiar when it comes to computers, from what I understand everyday PC usage is a much more specialized thing there for some reason? like computers are widely available but until very recently lots of people rarely used them?

@SeanAloysiusOBrien @Thomas yeah, home computers (even laptops) have been a niche/enthusiast thing in Japan for a long time.

On the other hand, phones. Phones in Japan commonly had email and internet access before that became the case in, say, North America. And nowadays, like many other places in the world, most people have smartphones.

It's kind of sad that the locked down OS & app stores of smartphones cause people to treat them as appliances, not realizing that they're actually computers.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien @Thomas one thing that is kind of hard to see from the privileged position I have is that home computers are really a niche/enthusiast thing in North America too. It just happens that with how education and work are structured here, people (especially older generations) are more likely to have used a computer at some point in their lives in North America than in Japan. But still, for many people, the smartphone is the only "computer" that they actually own.

@kepstin @SeanAloysiusOBrien yeah, I’ll say I primarily use my phone for personal stuff but then again I’m not the Japanese Cybersecurity Minister

@Thomas @SeanAloysiusOBrien it's shockingly common among those that are old and rich enough to have a slew of servants to do all of the computing needs for them.

@SeanAloysiusOBrien I think some (if not all) users should be taught this strategy during awareness training
@kurtm @SeanAloysiusOBrien And now they learn from it and hire an influencer! /s

@SeanAloysiusOBrien Can't get hacked if you don't have a computer. 100% effective cybersecurity.
