The IWW (Industrial Workers of the World) have an important message for you at work this Monday:

Respect yourselves, protect yourselves

The hours are long,
the pay is small,
so take your time,
and buck them all.

Did your boss work for every penny of his paycheck, or is some of that coming from your labor? Remember that the next time you think about "working hard:" you aren't paid for all the work you do anyway; why give away more for free?

Every cent of diminished output is another cent from the payroll of capitalists and imperialists; every time you stretch and yawn at work, you're helping make sure there's no funding for bombs and war and pain and hate.

I got one word for y'all, just one word: sabotage

@hummingrain I bet this gave you conflicted feelings given your productivity goals and need to reach them to have time to work on homework, huh?

For you, personal advice: Work as hard as you need to to do the schoolwork because that's going to help with your survival and that's important.

This post got more boosts today than Monday.

Tuesdays are the real Monday.

@emsenn when I quit the last job I was participsting in I stole all the shit I could carry including some of my boss' personal belongings. I didn't think about it just came naturally to me.

@emsenn my also work required working as a censor since it's illegal to even mention lgbt+ folks even exist if you show is not 18+

i made small mentions and implications whenever I could and fought frequently with my boss because she didn't want legal problems. I believe my stubbornness is what got me fired, well, that and also the fact that I never worked in a workplace if I could... I read a lot of fanfiction that year.

@emsenn just throwin it out there, 99.9% sure that "buck" is meant to be read with an initial 'f'

and that's beautiful

@alexis Nope!

It's an ooold poster and references the Wobbly slogan, "Buck the bosses off your back," the same way a horse might buck an unskilled rider.

Shake off your yoke, more than fuck the boss, in sentiment.

@alexis I guess that song says Dump but it's buck a bunch of places too.

@emsenn yeah, it uses "buck" in at least one spot I saw

i will say, not sure how catchy or effective an equine metaphor's going to prove in these days of horseless carriages

(although with the increasing convergence between the new left and furries, it might work super well, too)

@alexis hahaha!

I think about this some and I think going back to this language might be useful because our contemporary language has been so influenced by capitalistic business culture. And horses aren't all that distant from a lot of our work.
