Feel free to say hi.

@bgcarlisle Heya ^_^

Oh I hope your country comes to its senses before May takes it all V for Vendetta -_-

@paladin Oh I'm not in the UK! I live in Montreal Canada.

I'm a grad student and part of what my lab focuses on is forecasting of clinical trials in medicine. I'm just a huge geek, so I took those methods and collect lay-forecasts of major political events. :P

@bgcarlisle Heh fascinating.

Vous etez francophone?

Perhaps not in the UK but still in the Commonwealth ;)

@paladin Non pas francophone, mais j'ai un chum francophone :)

And yeah, we have the same queen, by strange historical accident haha

@paladin Btw, if you're curious about the results of my forecast analysis for the last Canadian election, I've got them posted here :)

@bgcarlisle I find myself wishing I had taken a statistics class so I could appreciate this work ;)

@paladin Basically, the punch line is that the election result was surprising to everyone

Which is good to keep in mind because now with hindsight, everyone thinks of the Trudeau win as being inevitable

@bgcarlisle Ahh Trudeau, Canada's Obama. A neolib with a nice sugar coating.

I remember being surprised by Trump's election only because I assumed Team Hillary had rigged it just like the primaries.

@paladin Yeah, it's kind of disappointing that he's now seen as this great standard-bearer of progressive values, more-or-less by comparison to Trump :/

Don't get me wrong, I'll take Trudeau's mostly-symbolic support of progressive ideals over Trump's all-too-real undermining of them, but still ...

@bgcarlisle Yeah, lip service is marginally better than outright assault. On the other hand, it helps to conceal the de facto assault, so idk? :\

Western politics is fucked in the fucker, is what it comes down to. I mean shit, in France you've got a neolib vs a light fascist, in the UK May is about to be given carte blanche for neo-Victorianism ... wat do, wat do
