A lot of you would probably enjoy playing a MUD - multi-user dimension: a text-based MMORPG. My favorite, that I've been playing a bit the past week, is the Discworld MUD, an unlicensed work set in Terry Pratchett's hilarious Discworld setting. It's been running since 1992; I've been playing since around 1998: since I was eight!

If you decide to log on, let me know! It's been years since I've played it regularly, so I can't help you as a new player, but we can chat!
@Ethancdavenport @ajroach42 They're pretty fun - and convenient to play as an office worker, since they can run from a browser tab or CLI. (And some allow automation, so you can basically make them idleclickers. Discworld doesn't, but you can queue up to five minutes of commands.)
@emsenn @Ethancdavenport @ajroach42 I miiiight remember a tay from there from there from the early 00's. I have thought of checking in again recently and will try to let you know if I do.
@emsenn oh shit reading this again, are we the same age? I guess we must be.
@Ethancdavenport I'm like 2 or 3 days older or younger than @ajroach42 if I remember correctly
@emsenn @ajroach42 oh shit no kidding! You’re about 4 months older than me then.
@emsenn I used to play it heavily a few years ago, but lost interest and let my character lapse after I was killed by a small dog.
@drewzero1 Was it the poodle in the house off... Finch St, perhaps? That poodle has taken down many new players.
@emsenn It was described as a small brown dog iirc, I think it was near The Shades or around Hide Park. It piddled on my leg so I cast Malich's Penetrating Ocular Lance, and it only escalated from there.
@emsenn I think I remember something about a construction site, but I can't find it on a map. One of these days I'd like to recreate that character, only better and less impulsive about casting offensive spells (no matter how small or harmless the dog may appear). I still feel a little proud of the time I managed to hit the UU Communications Imp with Brassica Oleracea Ambulata and watched a cabbage follow it around the great hall for a while.
@drewzero1 Ooh yea I think there's a construction site a bit near Hide Park, and the bougie residents of Ankh sometimes have lost puppies there - one of them probably got you!
Were you a Hoodwinker? Sounds ;like it, and that's funny because that's traditionally the guild and specification I go toward. (Although I might join the Hedge wizards - I refreshed recently.)
Once I caused 927 cabbages to squelch into existence at once at the Mended Drum, which caused a server crash.
@emsenn I remember talking to Ragnel to join the guild, but I don't remember choosing an order. Hoodwinker sounds like a lot of fun and I might pick that if I do it again. Also, that is a lot of cabbages!
@emsenn me and @ajroach42 got in and out of this a few times as kids.
