Hey! I'm looking to start an itch.io game bundle for queer game developers. Your game doesn't have to be about being trans or queer or even feature queer characters. I want to start the bundle for the main purpose of raising money for queer people that need it.
Your game can be really weird! Your game can be unfinished! It can be long or short! I want to not only raise money for developers like us, but I want to get eyes on our little or big projects. I'm aiming to have the bundle run for two weeks in May starting on the 17th!
There will be no tiers and money will be distributed equally amongst the developers. I want to help support developers like myself that are often overlooked by people. Not all of us have the time or money to make a long game or even a complete game, but I want to get us more money to hopefully feel securer in life each year and maybe give us more resources for our passion projects, or more importantly, things like food!
If you're interested feel free to reply here and I'll DM you!
edit: I just realized I can edit this to notify everyone at once. If you're interested, please check out this poll! I'd like to have everyone organized for communications!

edit 2: there is concern over the date, tell me what you think!

Edit 3
Don’t think it’s necessary here, but cannot stress enough that I don’t want submissions made with “AI” or work that is clearly hateful i.e. racist. I will turn submissions like this away.
If you're interested, I'd like a way to keep everyone organized and in communication with me for submitting your links and what not
what would you prefer
I also want to say if you hate the idea of both of those, please let me know a preferred contact method! I'll just make a spreadsheet of everyone if it comes down to it.
I thought May 17th would be neat since it's the international day against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, but there is concern of it running too close to the "queer games bundle." I'm not really bothered by that personally since most people get paid biweekly, but I'm willing to explore "sometime in september" as an option.
@ruby HELL YEAH
@ruby *waves* This sounds like a good thing, and maybe I could have more than a pre-pre-pre-demo preview release by then.
@TicklishHoneyBee awesome! also I have this poll going for a way to get everyone organized for communications
@ruby are "pay-what-you-want" games welcome? Mine are essentially free games
@aks Yes! Also sorry if you got a notification for a boost. It was a misclick!
@ruby I'm interested!
@ruby this is awesome I would definitely be interested in submitting something.
@BreoganHackett Thank you! I have this poll going to see what people would prefer for organizing our communications
@ruby i think it'd probably work out better to run ahead of instead of after the other similar bundle as long as you're confident in being able to organise the financial side of things before the may date.
@ruby also wouldn't be opposed to matrix but discord is unfortunately the standard and likely a little easier for people to access. This has me wanting to try matrix out at some point though.
@BreoganHackett Yeah it should be fine because itch actually has the feature of automatically splitting payments through everyone’s preferred methods, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Also yeah discord would probably make more sense. Matrix is neat but not well adopted
@ruby yeah if you're not doing tiered payments I guess itch has it covered.
@ruby I only voted September because I've kinda put my game projects on hold until I finish other project
but I think it should happen earlier if there are people who want it
@ruby Just a thought - the "queer games bundle" runs every June and gets a lot of media attention; might it benefit yours to run a bit further out from that one?
@midnightspire September was my second choice, so I'll run a poll.
@ruby
I'm interested!
@pajamabee_vegan Cow life sim rpg is one the best games of all time im star struck rn
@ruby thank you! i'll try to get an early version of the mmo sequel up for the bundle launch!
@pajamabee_vegan hell yeah awesome!
@ruby Could you say more about your goals/framing for the bundle and who/what you would like to include? I am not sure if it would be appropriate for me to join.
@midnightspire My main goal for the bundle is to provide another source of bonus revenue for queer game developers through a yearly itch bundle. I also want to avoid turning people away unless their submissions are racist for instance. The framing is to support people who have historically been turned away by many other bundles/anthologies or have been discouraged to do so for things like their game being too short, normally free, unfinished, a demo, etc. However, anyone who considers themselves queer, lgbtqia, what have you, and makes games, is welcome. I am also not opposed to erotic games because I think erotica is an important aspect of queer existence for many many people.
It’s basically going to be one of those bundles for a good cause, but for the developers themselves.
@midnightspire Oh I cannot stress enough I do not want games made with “AI”
@ruby I'm not sure. On the one hand, I am not living as close to the wire as many people are, and I have only one game that I might consider worth including, which is still a free game that I already made some money from in the QGB 2021. On the other hand, I really believe in helping to represent that LGBT folk make ALL kinds of games, not just the kind that the clueless media thinks about every June.
@ruby I'd be interested in a thing.
@ruby I'd be happy to donate one of my old projects, Cube Trains, if you'd like. Don't need no money from it though, just an ally.
